Hello Neighbors,
It was very nice to have met so many of you
at the January 31st meeting. Fran’s hospitality
and your warm welcome made it particularly wonderful. I was
impressed by the truly genuine level of engagement and
interest represented by the Beachwood community.
This month’s newsletter will serve more as
an update on the issues raised.
Arrest of individual on parole for burglary:
A radio call for service in the area of Belden Drive led to
the subsequent apprehension of a career criminal for
violation of his parole. This arrest by Hollywood patrol
officers was commendable and prevented what could have
easily been a rash of residential break-ins.
Mulholland Hwy red zones and signage issues:
I have reached out to our L.A.F.D. and D.O.T. partners to help in
this regard. I will keep you posted on the developments.
Decoy car: It has been returned to the area,
per the request made. You will see it moved in various
locations around the neighborhood.
Burglary from Motor Vehicles: This still
remains a nagging issue driving our crime statistics in a
bad direction. Please remind neighbors and friends to help
by keeping valuables out of plain view.
L.A.F.D. and fire issues: I would like to invite
my partner from the Los Angeles City Fire Department,
Battalion Chief John Drake, to address the next meeting.
Please let me know if you are interested in the opportunity
to meet with him.
Quality of life issues: please pass on any
areas of concern, for example lighting, graffiti, or traffic
related issues. I will take them directly to those who can
help.
Thank you all for your support and commitment
to Hollywood. Together, we can continue to move forward in
positive and effective ways.
