Open Space Preservation in the Santa Monica Mountains - Richard MacMinn:

The Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) proposing property tax increase of $40.00 a year to preserve existing open space in the Santa Monica Mountains.  The vote to pay the rate will be mailed to property owners with election results due in June. We are looking for endorsements from the BCNA for the proposal and provide assistance to get the word out to people in the area. This is a benefit of Proposition 218 and will provide bonds to protect the area. The land is to be divided into zones and each zone will provide for its own districts.  Zones are approximately 2 miles long.

Straw vote of those present shows only one “no”.

Byrd makes a motion to endorse the idea but withhold approval until clarification of the details and administration are known.  JP seconds

The motion was amended: Motion (Fran/Missy) to approve the plan and support the Open Space Preservation Measure as it goes forward to the City Council for Approval.  George – No; Tina – abstained:  all others approved. Motion carried.

Hollywood Community Plan – Dennis Chew:

Please submit questionnaire that deals with conditions and desires for the area.

The Plan last updated in 1988 has not been adhered to and so, unapproved expansion and development within the area must be addressed and the desires of the residents and stakeholders of the area must also be respected.

Please review the “Notice of Preparation” that many have received in the mail and respond with your own opinions. Also Dennis asked that we fill out the questionnaire so that the City can know what their voters desire.

Major concerns expressed during question period were density issues and commercial development; transportation, and population.

Stand Up for Los Angeles -Victoria Gaw: Asked that people sign up to receive information against Secession.

Motion to Adjourn (Nina/J.P.) Carried unanimously.
