LAPD
Issues: Bill Sollie, LAPD
SLO (Senior
Lead Officers) has been returned to community with schedule to allow for one day a week on
patrol in the Hollywood Precinct. Captain
Mike Downing is adhering to Chief Bernard Parks directive regarding SLO for
community.
Local Crime
still consists mostly of vehicle theft and reminds community to not leave anything in car
to attract thieves. A purse snatching
occurred in Beachwood Village. Other crimes
are low by comparison to other areas of the City.
Viva
Sullivan reports that the intersection of Cheremoya and Verbena is exceptionally
dark.
Sollie
advises that street lighting problems to deter crime can be solved by contacting Operation
Bright Light by contacting City Hall

Tina Romans
reports that a Vacant Lot in her neighborhood near Temple Hill and Vesanta is having
problems with vagrants and squatters.
Sollie
advises that the problem can be solved by contacting both the Fire Department and Mary
Presby in Councilman Ferraro's Office.
Crime
Analysis available for entire area extending from Franklin Avenue north to Universal City
and Los Feliz east to Hollywood Bowl.
Martin Van
Randalhoff inquires about man arrested for domestic abuse incident at home has made
threats against neighbor and wants to know if the man is still in custody.
Sollie
reports that most people arrested make threats against those surrounding the incident but
it is rare for them to be carried out. He is
unable to remark on current status of the suspect.
Traffic
Report: Nina Van Tassell
Study
performed at intersection of Rodgerton and Beachwood did not provide enough information to
warrant installation of stop sign but the City Engineer says they will try again with
another twenty-four hour study to verify results of first test.
Jeff (a resident of Temple Hill) says that traffic
going through Canyon Cove & Canyon Drive rarely stop for signs.
Jackie says
that a mirror should be put at blind spot at intersections
Victoria Gow
reports that a stop sign will be installed at Cheremoya & Verbena according to Mary
Presby of Councilman Ferraro's office.
George
Abrahams has directed that people start taking note of times they see people going through
stop signs to help police make proper assessment of traffic at dangerous
intersections.
Utility
Report:
He is trying
to get the City, DWP, Pacific Bell, and Cable company interested in funding the
installation of underground wiring to replace the overhead wiring and telephone poles
along Beachwood Drive.
After
speaking with Chief Legislative Analyst who has taken over since Ferraro's death, George
has been instructed to make a formal request for this to the DWP and Tom LaBonge. After the request, another is made at the City
Council level.
George is
trying to get rid of the No Access to Hollywood signs that appear throughout the
area.
Underground
water leak is getting worse at intersection of Ledgewood and Rodgerton. Mary Presby has said that she will take care of
it.
Potholes
along Beachwood being repaired slowly.
Street
lighting to be converted to high pressure sodium that gives off pinkish light - we should
start organizing now to keep the incandescent ones at cost to homeowners in area. Street Lighting to attend next Board Meeting to
give proposals and information regarding the changeover.
Other
Business:
Byrd Holland
reports that Hollyridge Drive has been repaved.
Man asks
what it would take to "friendly" up the intersections and stop signs the way it
is done in Burbank with planters surrounding the intersection and possibly red bricks at
crossways. George says the Burbank Chamber of
Commerce can help to direct us to how much something like this would cost, and who could
do it.
Boundaries
of the BCNA to be expanded to include Canyon on the East; Franklin on the South, Temple
Hill on the West. Organization will absorb
Vista Del Mar, Temple Hill, and Primrose into BCNA and the Hollywood Pineapple Tract. |
