SEPTEMBER 6, 2001 - MINUTES

Treasurer's Report:  Diana Knoll - Balance  $2861.28 

Crime Report:  Officer Bill Sollie - Map of District 

There have only been three residential burglaries in the area and unfortunately a robbery at the Beachwood Market.  An active investigation is going on now.  Other concerns are a report of a deer being shot in the Canyon and the police will interview an eyewitness to the crime.  Drag Racing  at Barham and Forest Lawn is taking time from local patrols in our area.  Building and Safety regulates garage sales which residents believe are becoming a nuisance in the area.   A vagrant asking for money is becoming aggressive and women should be concerned. 

Traffic Report: Officer Jerry Siel #23729 - 213-473-0215 

Traffic lights installed by Department of Transportation.  New stop sign at Cheremoya and Verbena.   Tamarind and Franklin enforcement of illegally parked cars and double parking at business center.  Congestion at Franklin "Strip"  Officer McCoy and Siel will talk to business owners to try and control the traffic in area.  Stop sign at Gower and Scenic, at Carmen Place and Gower, Ledgewood & Rodgerton, Beachwood and Gower, Bronson and Canyon, Belden and Beachwood  are being ignored causing problems in the area, although DOT has been alerted and requested of stop sign - could police please patrol.   

Intersections will be monitored and see how many violations are occurring, looking for number of violations more than five per hour, a periodic enforcement will occur.  Bronson at Canyon intersection was never completed but residents can call 213- 485-4282 to have intersection completed. 

Traffic signals are expensive and are authorized by City Council.  Pressure on City Council person can get them installed. 

Speed Monitor Trailer has made report from installation on Beachwood Drive, survey performed on April 10, 2001 and during that time 11:45AM 9:45AM, computer counted 3322 cars with minimum of 11 mph to 80 mph; average speed 19.9 mph; only one car at 33 mph at 11:15PM.  

Officer Siel has agreed to attend next meeting. 

Nancy Girten to call Officer Siel regarding flow of traffic. Sgt. Harper is responsible for West Traffic Division. 

Tina Romans has been compiling list of needed repair to painted curbs, no parking signs replaced, tow away signs installed.   Call Tina at  323-462-8539

Bulky Item Pick-Up response has been slow but Nina is plugging away trying to figure out how to get better response.  Call 323-464-7117 if you know of any bulky item pick up necessary and help to get faster response.  Nina to contact Nina Shaw at Board of Public Works to get better response. 

Franklin Hollywood Hills Community Council has brochures printed to explain the group and its purpose.  Outreach Committee has been active meeting the requirements at stated in the City Charter.  Boundaries are Hollywood Sign south to Hollywood Boulevard, Ivar East to Western Avenue.  The next meeting of the FHHCC will be certifying the By-Laws. 

Ed Schwartz from Philadelphia came to Hollywood to create a social contract to fill the need for the cause and reason of the Councils.  The Social Contract is being distributed tonight. 

George Abrahams has been dealing with Building Supervisor of Cheremoya

Elementary School who has agreed to mitigate air conditioning problems with adjoining property. 

Chronic water problem at Rodgerton and Ledgewood being investigated and Mary Presby of Councilman Ferraro's office has promised to get someone on the "case". 

Fran, George, Nina should be congratulated and thanked for all of her efforts on our behalf. 

BCNA is putting up reward for capture of person who shot the deer and reimburse Diana Knoll $127.00 for printing expense.;  motion made to purchase ad space in the Beachwood Voice $300.00;
