Greetings on a Friday!
Here’s what’s new in CD4 this week. For more information on
any of
these items, please visit our Web site at
www.tomlabonge.com.
- January 2009 is “Los
Angeles Arts Month in the
City of Los
Angeles,” a month of special lectures, art walks,
exhibitions, and
even the 14th Annual
Los Angeles
Art Show. Mayor Villaraigosa and
Councilmember Tom LaBonge kicked off L.A. Arts Month
earlier this week
at the
Japanese American National Museum. Go to
www.tomlabonge.com to
learn more about Arts Month and to see which venues are
offering
discounts and special events.
-
Councilmember LaBonge’s motion to curb the problem of
cars that
bear “For Sale” signs lining city streets came before the
Public
Works Committee this week. The cars take up public
parking spaces
and
constitute a crime problem in some areas. The City Attorney
has been
instructed by the committee to report back on one proposed
option. For
more information, visit www.tomlabonge.com.
- It’s time again for Tom’s Second Saturday Volunteer
Clean-Up in
Griffith Park,
the first of 2009! Tomorrow, January 10, we will clean up
Dante's View.
We’ll meet at the Charlie Turner Trailhead at 8:30 a.m.
and go until 10:00 a.m. Please see the attached flyer for
more details.
- We have pictures up from today’s unveiling of LA INC., The
Los
Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau’s new
promotional campaign,
“That’s So
LA.” Mayor Villaraigosa, Council President
Eric
Garcetti, Councilmember
Janice Hahn
and Councilmember Tom LaBonge helped
LA INC. present the new slogan and visuals at
Hollywood &
Highland this
morning. Check out our gallery of photos from the event at
www.tomlabonge.com.
- Finally, a note for our friends in the hillside areas of
Los Angeles,
Red Flag Parking Restrictions are in effect from tomorrow at
8:00 a.m.
to Sunday at 8:00 a.m. Find out if your street is affected
at
http://www.lafd.org/redflag or call 3-1-1 for
more information.
It’s going to be a beautiful weekend. Let’s continue to
enjoy and
love Los Angeles!
