"Councilphone" Imagine you are a community activist and are closely following an issue in City government. You find out that an important hearing or meeting is going to take place, but you're stuck at work all day at your desk.. Well, you might not miss a thing. City Council and other public meetings are now, available by phone. Just dial into LA's own "Council Phone" system and push the old speaker button. It's the next best thing to being there.

L.A. CityView 35 Just call the number in your area below and you can hear the City Council live on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00 am. When you call the number, the first thing you hear is a menu of all the meetings to be broadcast on that day, and you may choose which one you want if it is not a Council day. "Council Phone" is a dial-up system which allows the public to listen to live coverage of the Los Angeles City Council and Council Committees from any phone.

This department employees 750 people and has a budget of $120 million and works to insure that the City is prepared to meet the demands of the 21st century in terms of technology advancement. City Council meetings are also broadcast live on Cable Channel 35 each Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am. They are also rebroadcast later the same day at 7:30 pm and at midnight. On Sundays, the whole week worth of Council meetings are rebroadcast back-to-back, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
