BEACHWOOD CANYON CRIME SPREE
Offered to the Canyon courtesy of Hollywoodland Homeowner's Association


In response to community concerns, the Hollywoodland Homeowners Association researched the details of a recent crime spree in Beachwood Canyon and is providing the information to you for your safety. These are armed robbery crimes and have occurred in the past couple of months.

4/5/03 - 1:30am - Tamarind and Chula Vista

Victim was asked for directions as he was sitting in his vehicle at a stop sign car. A gun was then pulled on him by one of two black men in their twenties to thirties. They fled with the victim’s wallet, cell phone and keys.

4/8/03 - 12:30am - Glen Green

Victim was robbed at gunpoint as she exited her vehicle in her driveway by one black man in his early twenties. He stole $200 cash.

4/14/03 - 12:20am - Bronson and Chula Vista

Victim was approached by an armed black male (20's - 30) as she walked down Bronson. He demanded her money, but fled empty handed when she told him she didn’t have any.

4/15/03 - 12:40am - 1900 Block of Beachwood

Victim was walking home when he was held up at gunpoint by a black male (20's - 30) who proceeded to make the victim lie face down on the pavement, demand the suspects jacket, wallet and cell phone. The suspect then fled in a car driven by an accomplice.

4/22/03 - 9:10pm - Franklin and Tamarind

Four people walking on Franklin were held up at gunpoint by two black males (20'3 - 30). They stole their wallets and a cell phone .

4/30/03 - 11:30pm - Carmen Place near Gower

Two people were getting out of their car to go into their home when they were held up at gunpoint by a black male (20's - 30). He robbed them then fled in a car driven by an accomplice.

5/7/03 - Midnight - 1900 block of Beachwood

Two people were walking north on Beachwood when they were approached by two black men (20's - 30). One of the men grabbed the male victim’s jacket and started to beat him with a gun. The female victim ran to a nearby house for help and the attackers fled empty-handed.

5/13/03 - 7:45pm - 1900 block of Canyon

Victim was walking up his driveway when he was held up at gunpoint by a black male (20's) who stole the victim’s wallet.

5/13/03 - 10:20pm - 2600 block of Hollyridge

Victim was removing her gym bag from her car in her driveway when she was held up at gunpoint by a black male (30's). He demanded her money and jewelry. When she was unable to remove her rings, suspect made victim sit in the back of her car. At this time her husband pulled up into the driveway. The attacker robbed the husband then made him sit in the back of his wife’s car with her. Attacker then threatened to kill the husband if he didn’t get the rings. The wife removed the rings and the attacker fled. 

5/16/03 – 4:30PM – 5900 block of Graciosa 

Victim was home, young black male suspects approached her door asking for directions and to use her bathroom. Disappointed, they left but returned a few minutes later when the victim was in the back of the house and broke the screen, reached in and took her purse.
